Get familiar with e-mail spam filters, how they work and how you can activate them.
An email filter is a software application that runs on a POP3/IMAP mail server and ‘scans’ all inbound email messages so as to block any unasked-for ones from entering a specific inbox. A few instances of such email messages would be: offers for pills or cash, false bank statements or email attachments that contain malicious code sent with the intention to infect your personal computer. Email filters typically check the content of an email and if they spot some keywords or other dubious content, they either delete the message or deliver it to the Junk/Spam folder instead of the Inbox folder. Some providers mix their own email filters with up-to-date databases from spam-tracking organizations, so as to ensure higher levels of security for their clients. Such databases include patterns, mail server IP addresses and other information about spam emails recently detected by these organizations.
Spam Filters in Hosting
If you order a hosting
package from us and if you make use of our mail services, you will be able to set up spam filters for any of the mailboxes that you create from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With just a few clicks of the mouse, you can select between 5 different security levels. If you start receiving spam, you can begin with the lowest level and then slowly increase the level until you stop receiving spam. We make use of one of the best and most popular email filters available on the market called SpamAssassin. It ‘scans’ the header section and the body of every message that you receive and determines a spam score, based on which it either deletes a certain email message or permits it to enter your inbox. The Hepsia Control Panel will also allow you to activate custom spam filters and either get rid of undesirable emails or redirect them to a 3rd-party address such as email@example.com where you can read them once more later.
