Know what exactly ‘JailHost’ stands for. Find out the benefits of enabling this option for your hosted domains.
If you host multiple Internet sites within the exact same account and one of them is hacked, it is more than likely that all of them will be hacked afterwards. There're various reasons why this could happen, the two most popular are: using really weak passwords or using older scripts with widely known weaknesses. In this way, just a single compromised Internet site can do a lot of damage to all of your websites, because gaining access to a single script normally allows hackers to access the entire hosting account. This is the reason why we've introduced a new security option named JailHost. Once enabled, this option will literally lock a site in its folder, so if an attacker takes over it, all the other Internet sites in the account will remain hidden. Thus they'll be resistant to further intrusion. The JailHost option doesn't suggest that you should not keep your websites up to date, but it will significantly minimize the damage.
JailHost in Hosting
In case you host your sites in a hosting
account from our firm, you will be able to protect them using the JailHost feature with just a couple of mouse clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This option is accessible with all packages and can be enabled for each folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have individual folders, so that files for different websites do not get mixed up like it usually happens with other Control Panels. We haven't activated JailHost by default because you might use scripts which need access to folders outside the main website folder and this option may interfere with their correct operation, but protecting all of the other folders is simple and easy. If a protected website gets hacked for some reason, we will be able to restore it in a short time as we'll have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to search the available backups through Hepsia.
